Day 9 - Edinburgh Rest Day

Had a bit of a lie-in this morning, then arranged for my dirty nasty hiking clothes to be taken to a laundry service down the road.  Four shirts, 2 pairs of pants, a set of jimjams, a few pairs of socks, and skivvies - wash, dry, and folded for 8 pounds.  Now THERE'S a deal!  Picked the laundry up at noon, then headed to the Grassmarket to meet up with an old friend, Aya, and his family for drinks/late lunch.  So good to see him, and meet his fiancée, Lyndsey, and his little girls!  We went to the Black Bull, where I had chicken stuffed with haggis (with peas, carrots, and potatoes) and a lovely Rekordolig mixed berries cider.

Headed back to the Cluaran House guest house afterwards, to repack my duffle bag and get ready for tomorrow's leg to Prestonpans/Port Seton.  My lodging last night and tonight is right along the John Muir Way - no extra walking to pick up the trail tomorrow at all!

Weather today was a total mixed bag.  Bright, warm sunshine would quickly give way to a cold wind and snow at any given moment.  Aya was telling me that it's been a weird April, weather-wise.

Only 3 trail days and one rest day left...
